--------------------------------------- FaT Version 1.2.1 - October 2003 Copyright Seeing Machines 2003 --------------------------------------- About This Release ------------------ This is a minor update of release 1.2 of the FaT, containing the following packages: 1) the FaT for Matlab 1.1 The Matlab toolbox package is unchanged from the previous release. It is a collection of functions and scripts for integrated analysis of faceLAB log file data with world models. The FaT contains two parts: 1. A standalone data browser compiled from Matlab and released with faceLAB. 2. Matlab source code functions and scripts. 2) xlFaT 1.1 This is a new package introducing some of the Matlab data analysis functionality to the Excel environment as an add-in. The xlFaT was created with the Excel Builder MATLAB Toolbox provided by the Mathworks (www.mathworks.com). IMPORTANT - Upgrading from previous versions of the FaT ------------------------------------------------------ Before you install FaT version 1.2.1, you MUST uninstall any previous version of the FaT you have on your machine, otherwise installation will not work correctly. Summary of improvements in FaT 1.2.1 ------------------------------------ - the faceLAB log file reader, fll_read_7.m and its derivatives, are much faster, and return strings for string field names rather than numerical ascii values - the faceLAB log file reader now supports world model version 5, produced by faceLAB 3.1. As a consequence, a FaT function load_world_model_4_5 has added which can load both version 4 and version 5 models.) Summary of functions in the FaT ------------------------------------------ * Convenient data visualization using editable windows into multidimensional data structures * Post-experimental world model editing using gaze data and 3D to 2D projection * Data summary and analysis by distributing grouping * Fixation sequence and fixation map display Summary of functions in the xlFaT ------------------------------------------ * Import faceLAB log file data from a .fll file * Signal Viewer - which allows the user to zoom into a subset of the domain of a number of signals. * Histogram Viewer - displays 2D histograms of pairs of signals and exports images. * Histogram Editor - allows editing of the time series signals from the histograms. * World Model Editor - provides an interface to edit world model parameters while superimposing the world model objects on recorded gaze, attention, or head pose data. * Binary Signal Filter - Signal types can be used to remove data from another signal with the signal filter, replacing values with zeros or NaN symbols. * Extraction Fixations - reduces data to mean values over the period of a fixation using a saccade flag. * Summarizing Intersection Data - reduces the list of intersections for fixations into two tables, listing characteristics of the intersections with each object and the transition between objects. * xlFaT - online help on the functions described above, in tutorial like format. System Requirements ------------------- The FaT 1.2 requires: * Microsoft Windows XP * Matlab Release 12 or later to use the FaT for Matlab * Microsoft Excel 2002 to use the xlFaT Known Issues ------------ If you have problems other than the one mentioned below, please report them to fatman@seeingmachines.com * An error message "error in loading dll" may appear when first installing the xlFaT add-in, ignore this if the menu and toolbar appear in the interface Contacting Us ------------- General Information: info@seeingmachines.com Technical Support: fatman@seeingmachines.com Please refer to the xlFaT user manual for other ways to contact us.
